Beabadoobee Shares Bittersweet Single Memories Ahead of September Pylon Album Launch

Beabadoobee describes 'Memories' as one of the happiest songs on Pylon, but the track is rendered as warm, rain-streaked nostalgia—'the kind of song that feels made for driving with the windows down while traffic lights smear across cracked wet pavement,' with brightness softened by a melancholy undercurrent.
The live debut of 'Memories' occurred during a festival run that included Lollapalooza, Hinterland, and Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
The album Pylon is described as a 'tannic rock' record with a broad emotional range—angry, lonesome, ecstatic, depressed and deeply in love—largely written alone in hotel rooms, a process Laus says reminded her of writing as a teen in her bedroom.
Pylon also includes the tracks 'Sun Has Set' and 'Switchblade' as part of its tracklist.
Pylon is the follow-up to 2024's This Is How Tomorrow Moves, continuing Beabadoobee's yearly cycle of new material ahead of the September release.
Beabadoobee released "Memories," the third single from her upcoming album Pylon, arriving September 18 via Dirty Hit/Interscope. The British artist describes the track as one of the happiest songs on the album, yet it carries a bittersweet undercurrent—warm and nostalgic on first listen but shadowed by melancholy underneath, the kind of song that feels made for driving with rain-streaked windows.
Pylon marks Beabadoobee's (Beatrice Laus) follow-up to 2024's UK #1 album This Is How Tomorrow Moves. The new record spans a wide emotional range—angry, lonesome, ecstatic, depressed and deeply in love—with Laus writing much of it alone in hotel rooms, a process she says echoed her teenage songwriting days in her bedroom.
Consequence reports that Laus describes "Memories" as one of the brightest tracks on Pylon. But NeonMusic notes the song carries more sadness than its first impression suggests. The contrast creates tension—the surface gleams with warmth and sunlit nostalgia, while underneath runs a current of melancholy and loss, as if clinging to moments that feel like they'll last forever.
Laus wrote much of Pylon alone in hotel rooms while touring, a solitary process that influenced the album's depth. AllMusicMagazine confirms the record spans aggressive, lonely, joyful, and heartbroken moods all at once. This writing method reminded Laus of her teen years making music in her bedroom—isolated but focused, turning personal moments into shareable songs.
Beabadoobee debuted "Memories" live during a summer festival run that included Lollapalooza, Hinterland, and Red Rocks Amphitheatre. She is planning a U.S. arena tour for October to support Pylon. A lyric video for "Memories" is available on YouTube as part of the album's rollout.
Pylon is Beabadoobee's fourth album and her second in consecutive years following This Is How Tomorrow Moves. NorthernTransmissions notes the album will arrive September 18, 2026, and also includes the tracks "Sun Has Set" and "Switchblade." The record showcases a "tannic rock" sound—complex, layered, and textured—that builds on her recent sonic direction.
