Those Sparkling Wish Notes can be traded for starry-sky-themed furniture and Jirachi décor. The event leans into the Japanese Tanabata star festival, which Jirachi has been tied to in Pokémon games for years. Destructoid reports the event kicks off at 5 a.m. local time on June 23.
Three Tech Requirements You Cannot Skip
The event has strict technical rules. First, your game must be on Version 1.1.0 — older versions simply will not work, per Insider Gaming. Second, your Nintendo Switch 2's date and time must be synced to the internet. If the clock is off, the event will not trigger at all.
Third, players need to have already rebuilt the Pokémon Center in their town. That requires a baseline of gameplay before June 23. An active internet connection is also mandatory throughout the event window, which closes July 8, 2026.
Version 1.1.0 and the Dive Update Coming in August
Version 1.1.0 dropped on June 9, 2026, alongside a Nintendo Direct that revealed a full content roadmap. The patch doubled the electric item placement limit from 512 to 1,024. That change is thought to support the new animated Jirachi decorations arriving with the event.
A free 2.0 "Dive" update arrives in August. It lets players use the move Dive to explore the ocean floor, plant grass underwater, and build entire new towns. The first paid expansion, called Bubbly Basin, comes at the same time and adds new Pokémon including Popplio and Manaphy, according to IGN.
