Netflix debuts Boyfriend on Demand trailer starring BLACKPINK's Jisoo as webtoon producer who tries virtual dating service with celebrity cameos

Netflix released the main trailer for Boyfriend on Demand, a Korean romantic comedy starring BLACKPINK’s Jisoo as Seo Mi-rae, a burned-out webtoon producer who escapes into a subscription-based virtual dating simulation that offers tailor-made fantasy dates. The preview shows Mi-rae swept through a parade of idealized dates—from fairy-tale princes to celebrity encounters—while repeatedly running into colleague Park Kyeong-nam (Seo In-guk), whose slow-burn office romance complicates her notion of a perfect match. The series is directed by Kim Jung-sik and written by Namgung Do-young and will stream on Netflix on March 6. The show features a starry lineup of virtual-boyfriend cameos, including Seo Kang-jun, Lee Soo-hyuk, Ong Seong-wu, Lee Jae-wook and Jay Park, among others. The trailer's cameo-heavy approach has generated both excitement and criticism from viewers, including objections to Jay Park’s inclusion. The trailer debut follows Jisoo’s recent solo music activity and BLACKPINK’s return to group promotions, underscoring her crossover between music and acting.
Yoo In-na appears in the series as a dating manager who guides Mi-rae through the virtual-dating service.
Director Kim Jung-sik's previous credits include the series Work Later, Drink Now and No Gain No Love.
The cameo lineup also includes Lee Hyun-wook, Kim Young-dae and Lee Sang-yi in addition to the other named special appearances.
Jisoo said of the show: “The series will let viewers vicariously experience exciting romance through the characters. I think it will be a fun treat for anyone who feels worn down by the monotony of everyday life.”
Jisoo’s solo EP Amortage peaked at No. 11 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart, and she previously collaborated with Zayn Malik on the 2025 single “Eyes Closed.”
