BPI permanently waives InstaPay and PESONet fees across all digital platforms.

BPI, the Philippines’ oldest bank, is marking its 175th anniversary on August 1 by moving to permanently waive InstaPay and PESONet transfer fees.
Customers can access the free transfers after updating to a version released on June 25, 2026; the update is available through Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei AppGallery.
BPI says it is the first local bank to offer completely unconditional free fund transfers across its entire digital ecosystem, meaning users can send money to other banks and e-wallets at zero cost via InstaPay and PESONet.
The move is slated to take effect on July 1, 2026, signaling a major digital-banking push ahead of BPI’s 175th anniversary.
The Bank of the Philippine Islands will permanently waive all InstaPay and PESONet transfer fees starting July 1, 2026, making it free for customers to send money to other banks and e-wallets Philstar Life. The move covers more than nine million enrolled users across the BPI app, BPI Online, VYBE, and BizKo — and BPI is calling itself the first local bank to offer completely unconditional free transfers across its entire digital ecosystem GizGuide.
Before this change, BPI customers paid up to PHP 25.00 per InstaPay transaction and PHP 10 to PHP 20 for PESONet batch transfers. Those fees disappear permanently on July 1. Both transfer types will cost PHP 0.00, with no conditions attached NoypiGeeks.
InstaPay moves money in real time between banks and e-wallets. PESONet processes transfers in batches, usually within the same banking day. BPI's waiver covers both Manila Shaker. BPI President and CEO Jose Teodoro Limcaoco said the bank is "redefining what a legacy bank can be" by removing barriers and fostering "a truly inclusive digital economy."
The free transfers do not activate automatically. Customers must update to the latest BPI app version released on June 25, 2026 NoypiGeeks. The update is available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei AppGallery. It includes minor fixes alongside the zero-fee framework.
The waiver applies to the BPI app, BPI Online, the VYBE e-wallet, and BizKo — BPI's platform for small and medium businesses TeamPCheng. Fitzgerald Chee, BPI's Head of Consumer Platforms, said the goal was to make the technology "seamless" before the July 1 rollout and to ensure "no segment of our user base is left behind."
Digital-only banks like Maya, GoTyme, and SeaBank had already been offering free transfers for years. That gave them a clear edge over traditional banks in winning younger, cost-conscious users Philstar Life. BPI's permanent waiver is a direct answer to that pressure.
The timing is deliberate. BPI turns 175 years old on August 1, 2026, making it the oldest bank in the Philippines. The fee waiver is the centerpiece of the bank's anniversary push GizGuide. BPI expects to offset lost fee income through higher deposit volumes and deeper engagement with VYBE and BizKo.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the country's central bank, has long pushed for lower transfer fees to speed up digital payments adoption in the Philippines TeamPCheng. BPI's move fits squarely into that agenda. Analysts say BSP could use BPI as a model to pressure BDO and Metrobank to follow suit.
The ripple effects go beyond consumers. Small business owners on BizKo will save on daily transfer costs to suppliers. Families receiving remittances from abroad can redistribute funds to other accounts at zero cost Manila Shaker. When transfers are free, Filipinos are more likely to move money more often — which speeds up local commerce.
