Convicted Double Murderer Simon Levy Accused of Stabbing Belmarsh Prison Guard

Levy’s earlier sex-offending history dates back to 2018, including an assault on a woman at a Camden Market party and another at the Notting Hill Carnival, for which he was convicted in 2021.
The murder victims linked to Levy are Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo (53) and Sheryl Wilkins (39). Valencia-Trujillo was found dumped in the stairwell of a derelict building in Peckham, while Wilkins was found collapsed near High Road in Tottenham.
The February Belmarsh incident involved Levy stabbing a prison guard, Paul Dunne, with a pen and stabbing him multiple times in the arm and neck before grabbing the guard around the throat and tightening his grip.
At the time of the Belmarsh incident, Levy was in custody awaiting trial for double murders and other alleged offences, and records describe him as living in Tottenham and described as jobless, living with his mother.
Simon Levy, a 41-year-old double killer serving a whole-life prison sentence, is accused of stabbing a Belmarsh prison guard in the neck with a pen and trying to strangle him, according to Daily Mail. The alleged attack happened in February at HMP Belmarsh, one of Britain's most secure prisons. Levy entered not guilty pleas to assault and intentional strangulation at Westminster Magistrates' Court.
Levy received his whole-life term just last week for the murders of Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, 53, and Sheryl Wilkins, 39. The new charges now send him back to court — this time for an alleged attack on the officer who was guarding him, Border Telegraph reported.
Prosecutors say the attack on guard Paul Dunne happened as Levy finished a meeting with him inside Belmarsh. Levy allegedly grabbed a pen and stabbed Dunne multiple times in the neck and arm, according to Yahoo News. He then grabbed Dunne around the throat and tightened his grip until the officer fell to the floor.
Levy appeared by videolink at Westminster Magistrates' Court to face the charges. He denied assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intentional strangulation. The case has been sent to Inner London Crown Court, with a hearing set for September 14, AOL reported.
Levy was convicted of killing two women in London. Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, 53, was found dumped in the stairwell of a derelict building in Peckham. Sheryl Wilkins, 39, was found collapsed near High Road in Tottenham, according to Daily Mail.
A judge handed Levy a whole-life order last week, meaning he will never be released. He was also convicted of nearly killing a third woman while out on bail for earlier sex offences. His address at the time of his crimes was listed as Tottenham, where he lived with his mother and was described as jobless, Border Telegraph reported.
Levy's criminal history began well before the murders. He sexually assaulted a woman at a Camden Market party in 2018 and attacked another victim at the Notting Hill Carnival. He also committed sexual assaults on the London Underground, according to Yahoo News.
He was convicted of those sex offences in 2021. Prosecutors say he went on to commit the double murders while on bail for those crimes. The Belmarsh attack allegedly took place while he was in custody awaiting trial for the murders — adding yet another alleged offence to his record, AOL reported.
Levy's defence team maintains he denies both the assault and strangulation charges. The case will be heard at Inner London Crown Court, with the next hearing scheduled for September 14. Levy is already serving the most severe sentence available under English law — a whole-life term — with no prospect of release, Border Telegraph confirmed.
