AXQ Capital Expands Holdings, Initiates New Positions Across Diverse U.S. Stocks Amid Mixed Analyst Views

AXQ Capital LP disclosed new or expanded positions across multiple U.S. stocks, including Altria Group, Trex, AppFolio, Associated Banc-Corp, and Hormel Foods. For Altria, AXQ increased its stake by about 200% in the fourth quarter to 14,295 shares worth roughly $824,000, joining a broader mix of institutional buying, with Vanguard also adding to its large existing position. AXQ also initiated a position in Trex with 26,272 shares valued at about $922,000, while other major investors such as Norges Bank and AQR Capital Management added sizeable stakes and analyst sentiment was split, ranging from underweight/hold to neutral targets. In software, AXQ acquired 3,840 AppFolio shares valued around $893,000 as hedge funds continued to hold a large majority of the company’s float and analysts adjusted price objectives. In banking and packaged food, AXQ bought 28,143 shares of Associated Banc-Corp (about $725,000) and 39,149 shares of Hormel Foods (about $928,000), with analysts offering differing outlooks on both names.
In Altria (MO), AXQ’s larger stake increase was accompanied by an insider sale: SVP Charles N. Whitaker sold 27,908 shares at an average price of $67.57 (transaction value $1,885,743.56).
For Trex (TREX), the roundup of analyst views included Barclays maintaining an “underweight” rating with a $36.00 target (up from $35.00), while Stifel raised its target to $44.00 and kept a “hold” rating; Citigroup reiterated a “neutral” rating with a $43.00 target.
For AppFolio (APPF), Piper Sandler cut its price objective from $245.00 to $210.00 but still rated the stock “overweight,” underscoring that even bearish price-target adjustments weren’t uniform across the Street.
For Associated Banc-Corp (ASB), Weiss Ratings upgraded the stock from a “hold (c+)” to a “buy (b)” in a Feb. 17 research note, adding a clearly bullish counterpoint amid other firms sticking to “neutral” or adjusting targets modestly.
For Hormel Foods (HRL), Weiss Ratings reaffirmed a “sell (d+)” rating in an April 21 note, highlighting that at least one major rating provider remained bearish even as AXQ initiated a new position.
