Toshiba Launches Compact 80V eFuse IC to Improve Industrial Power Line Safety

Toshiba has launched a new electronic fuse chip designed to protect 48V power systems in industrial equipment Financial Post. Traditional fuses blow once and stop working. You have to replace them, which wastes time and money Montreal Gazette. Electronic fuses (called eFuses) work differently. They use semiconductor chips that can reset automatically and offer multiple safety features in one tiny package.
Toshiba's new chip includes current limiting, voltage clamping, thermal shutdown, and reverse polarity protection—features that traditional fuses cannot provide Toronto Sun. The device also reacts in nanoseconds, much faster than mechanical fuses. This speed protects circuits before damage happens.
