Accenture Acquires Industries eXcellence Group to Strengthen Siemens Digital Industries Manufacturing Solutions

Accenture has agreed to acquire Industries eXcellence Group (IndX), a division of Italy's Engineering Group, in a deal announced June 17, 2026 Business Wire. IndX, headquartered in Rome and Chicago, brings over 650 specialists in Siemens Digital Industries software — tools that help manufacturers design products, run factories, and manage supply chains.
The move expands the Accenture Siemens Business Group, a joint practice the two companies launched at Hannover Messe in early 2025 with 7,000 professionals focused on AI-powered manufacturing AP News. Accenture also announced the same day it is acquiring Alfahealth, another Engineering Group division focused on digital health in Italy, adding roughly 1,200 more staff in a single day.
Manufacturers today struggle to connect their engineering, production, and supply chain systems into one seamless flow — what the industry calls a "digital thread." IndX specializes in exactly that, using Siemens' Xcelerator software platform to link shop-floor machines with cloud-based data Business Wire. Accenture's global supply chain lead, Tracey Countryman, said IndX will help "solve this challenge for clients faster."
Siemens Digital Industries Software CEO Tony Hemmelgarn said the deal brings "proven skills in our industrial solutions" and deepens existing client relationships Markets Financial Content. The Accenture Siemens Business Group already has a track record: a prior project cut design costs by 20% for Spanish shipbuilder Navantia.
After the deal closes, Accenture plans to open two Centers of Excellence for Siemens DI solutions — one in Italy and one in India Post Register. Italy provides deep domain expertise in European manufacturing. India provides scale and lower-cost engineering talent. Together, they are designed to let Accenture deliver industrial software projects faster and more cheaply.
Italy is a strategic bet for Accenture right now. The EU's National Recovery and Resilience Plan has earmarked €47 billion for Italy's digital transformation, with 26% of those funds targeting digitalization directly. Accenture has recently snapped up Italian firms in AI, public administration, 5G, and infrastructure as part of this push Barchart.
The simultaneous sale of IndX and Alfahealth suggests Engineering Group is undergoing a significant portfolio shift. The two deals hand Accenture nearly 1,900 new employees in a single announcement Business Wire. Analysts see it as a possible response to private equity pressure or a pivot toward higher-margin consulting work.
For Accenture, the deal fits a well-worn playbook. The company has completed over 350 acquisitions in the past four years as part of its "Total Enterprise Reinvention" strategy. FY25 revenue hit $70 billion across a workforce of 786,000 employees AP News.
UBS reiterated a "Buy" rating on Accenture stock with a $320 price target, pointing to strong fundamentals and $1.5 billion in generative AI bookings Enid News. Accenture's stock was trading at a price-to-earnings ratio of 13.6 at the time of the announcement — a level some analysts labeled as undervalued.
Not everyone is bullish. Susquehanna set a far lower price target of $186, reflecting concerns that growth in systems integration — Accenture's core business — may slow. Analyst James Friedman flagged that while change management work is strong, the broader consulting market faces headwinds Market Screener.
