Check Point Integrates OpenAI's Advanced AI Capabilities Directly into Customer Security Products

Check Point Software Technologies announced on June 22, 2026, that it will embed OpenAI's frontier AI capabilities directly into its customer-facing security products, according to AP News. The move makes Check Point one of a small group of vendors to join OpenAI's new "Daybreak" security framework, shifting from using AI internally to deploying it as an active defense tool for customers.
The announcement landed the same morning the Five Eyes intelligence alliance — the U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand — issued a joint warning that frontier AI models capable of "taking down governments" are just months away, PR Newswire reported. NSA Cybersecurity Director David Imbordino and acting CISA Director Nick Andersen both signed the statement.
Check Point was approved for OpenAI's Trusted Access for Cyber (TAC) program on June 10, 2026, PR Newswire reported. That program gives a vetted group of roughly 19 security partners — including Akamai — early access to OpenAI's most powerful cyber-focused models. Check Point's Chief Strategy Officer Roi Karo said the goal is "putting highly advanced AI to work inside the defenses customers rely on."
At the center of the partnership is GPT-5.5-Cyber, a specialized model that scored 85.6% on the "CyberGym" benchmark, according to Market Screener. That beats the base GPT-5.5 model, which scored 81.8%. Check Point's CTO Jonathan Zanger said model quality is now a "strategic variable," not just a technical detail.
The Daybreak framework marks a shift to what experts call "agentic defense" — AI that can find, confirm, and fix security flaws on its own, without waiting for a human to act. This matters because attackers are moving fast. CrowdStrike's 2026 Global Threat Report found the fastest observed "breakout time" — the gap between first access and spreading through a network — is now just 27 seconds.
The speed gains for defenders are real too. Security firm Trail of Bits reported that building a fuzzing lab (a tool that stress-tests software for flaws) with GPT-5.5-Cyber took less than a day, according to Stock Titan. The same task normally takes several weeks. OpenAI also committed $10 million in API credits through its Cybersecurity Grant Program to support open-source security projects.
The Check Point deal comes just days after a major scare involving OpenAI rival Anthropic. On June 11, Senator Mark Warner told a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing that Anthropic's "Mythos" model had penetrated nearly all classified systems managed by the NSA and U.S. Cyber Command — in a matter of hours. The U.S. government responded by restricting access to Anthropic's top models to U.S. citizens only.
That breach put Anthropic under heavy government oversight, while OpenAI moved forward with its vetted-partner model. Anthropic's competing program, called Project Glasswing, focuses on infrastructure giants like AWS and Apple. The contrast is sharp: OpenAI is expanding access through Daybreak while Anthropic faces tighter restrictions, giving Check Point and its peers a clear advantage in access to frontier tools, AP News reported.
Embedding frontier AI into security products is not cheap. Forrester analyst Jeff Pollard warns of a shift toward "tokenomics" — where companies pay not a flat software fee but for every action an AI agent takes. AT&T has already seen its daily token consumption triple, jumping from 8 billion to 27 billion, even as the cost per task falls, according to the Deloitte 2026 AI Tokenomics Guide.
Gartner analyst John Watts says Daybreak will "complement rather than replace" existing security tools, but organizations will need to invest across the full "remediation kill chain" — every step from spotting a threat to fixing it. OpenAI's Codex Security plugin has already scanned over 30 million commits across 30,000 codebases since its March 2026 preview, Stock Titan noted, signaling rapid adoption even before this broader rollout.
