Chevron Plans $7 Billion Expansion for Venezuela Oil Following New Trump Deal

Chevron, the only U.S. oil company with significant presence in Venezuela, has announced plans to expand its operations in the country following President Donald Trump's announcement of an ambitious deal to develop the nation's oil reserves and give the Pentagon a stake in the profits. The company plans to invest more than $7 billion over the next five years and more than doubling production to approximately 600,000 barrels a day compared to 2026. The move comes as Chevron has been assigned additional acreage in the Orinoco Belt, where the company has an established position. The White House confirmed it is partnering with North American Blue Energy Partners as part of Trump's push to tap into Venezuela's oil industry. The agreement has been met with skepticism from analysts who believe it will take years to revive Venezuela's struggling oil industry, which is in disarray due to political instability and international sanctions.
