Fortera and MLC Sign Agreement to Build First Commercial Low-Carbon Cement Plant

Fortera and MLC have signed an agreement to develop a commercial facility designed to produce over 300,000 tons of low-carbon ReAct cement annually. The new Fortera Cement Plant will be the world's first industry-scale operation to transform waste CO₂ into value-added cement. This move represents a major step from commercial validation to industrial-scale production, reducing import reliance and supporting decarbonization of critical industries. The project will add domestic cement capacity to the US, where imports currently account for roughly a quarter of annual cement consumption. The partnership aligns with Fortera’s approach to scaling within the global cement market: partnering with established producers and leveraging existing feedstocks, infrastructure and logistics to meet industry’S cost and scale requirements.
