Diligent Introduces AI to Streamline Cyber Risk Management and Link it to Business Impact

Diligent has launched Diligent Cyber Risk Management, an AI-driven tool that cuts manual security assessment time from six weeks to just hours. The platform connects cyber threats directly to business strategy, giving boards and executives a clear picture of what a security risk actually means for the company's bottom line, according to The Province.
The launch comes as the average cost of a data breach hits $4.45 million, per Calgary Sun. Companies with strong cybersecurity ratings generate four times more shareholder value than those with weak ratings — yet most organizations still manage risk through scattered spreadsheets and disconnected tools.
Scott Bridgen, Diligent's General Manager, says security teams are "drowning in vulnerability scans" while boards keep asking a simpler question: what does this risk mean for the business? That gap between technical data and executive strategy is what Diligent is targeting. Only 19% of organizations have fully integrated risk systems, according to Sudbury Star. The other 65% operate in partial integration, often producing conflicting risk reports for the same board meeting.
Regulatory pressure has made this problem urgent. The SEC's 2023 disclosure rules now require public companies to report material cyber incidents within four business days, according to Daily Herald Tribune. That means boards can no longer treat cybersecurity as a back-office IT issue. They are legally on the hook — and they need real-time, business-level data to act.
Diligent calls its approach "agentic" AI — meaning the system can perform tasks on its own, not just surface data for humans to sort through. The platform pulls together technical security data and business context in one place. Assessment cycles drop from six weeks to hours. Audit preparation time falls by 50%, according to Clinton News Record.
Dave Schultz, Risk Manager for the City of Lethbridge, says municipal teams need to move away from "scattered scans and spreadsheets" to solutions that are truly "transformative." Diligent also offers a unified view across enterprise risk, audit, and cyber — giving the C-suite a single source of truth instead of three teams presenting three different risk stories, per Whitecourt Star.
Diligent was named a Leader in both Gartner's Magic Quadrant for GRC Tools in November 2025 and Forrester's GRC Platforms Wave for Q2 2026, according to Cold Lake Sun. Forrester gave Diligent the highest possible scores for AI integration and risk quantification. The company also acquired 3rdRisk, an AI-native third-party risk tool, in April 2026 to add vendor oversight to its platform.
The global AI cybersecurity market is projected to reach $26.31 billion in 2026, growing at 15.8% per year, per Goderich Signal Star. CEO Brian Stafford has been direct about the stakes: "If AI isn't already embedded into the core of your board's operations, you're not just falling behind — you're losing."
Not everyone is convinced. Some industry observers warn of "AI washing" — old software rebranded with AI labels but without real change underneath. Bhavya Bhandari of Ernst & Young warns that AI is "compressing the window between exposure and impact," making traditional periodic risk reviews obsolete. But Bhandari also cautions that "static scoring risks understating true exposure," according to PR Record Gazette.
Security experts also note that cutting assessment time from weeks to hours could create over-reliance on automated outputs, missing nuanced risks that experienced security leaders would catch. Competitors like ServiceNow and OneTrust argue their own integrations serve organizations better than an all-in-one platform. General availability for Diligent Cyber Risk Management is projected for summer 2026, per Ontario Farmer.
