Lahontan Gold Reports Significant Gold Mineralization from 2026 Calvada Central Drilling

Lahontan Gold Corp. has released new drill results from its Santa Fe Mine Project in Nevada, headlined by a 31-metre intercept grading 0.90 grams per tonne (g/t) gold oxide at Calvada Central, according to Leader-Post. The results come from a 188-metre diamond drill hole that was originally planned to collect geotechnical data for mine permitting — but ended up hitting meaningful gold mineralization along the way.
The company, listed as Lahontan Gold Corp. on the TSX Venture Exchange (LG), also drilled two reverse-circulation (RC) holes totalling 636 metres at the south end of the Slab open pit. Those holes were designed to pin down where gold mineralization ends against the Calvada Fault, a key structural boundary at the project, Financial Post reported.
The standout result came from diamond drill hole SF-25-D001. It was drilled to collect rock strength and stability data needed for permitting the mine. But it also cut 31 metres grading 0.90 g/t gold in oxide material — the type of ore that is typically cheaper and easier to process. That makes the intercept commercially significant, not just a technical footnote, Edmonton Sun noted.
The 188-metre hole sits at Calvada Central, a zone within the broader Santa Fe Mine footprint. Finding gold in a hole drilled primarily for engineering data suggests the mineralization at Calvada Central is more widespread than previously mapped. More assay results from the 2026 program are expected shortly, the company said.
The two RC holes at the south end of the Slab open pit had a different goal. Lahontan drilled them to define exactly where gold mineralization stops against the Calvada Fault. Faults like this can act as barriers — cutting off ore bodies — or as conduits that move gold-bearing fluids. Knowing where the fault sits helps engineers design a more accurate mine plan, Brantford Expositor reported.
Together, the two RC holes covered 636 metres of ground. The results from those holes are part of the same batch of results announced alongside the Calvada Central diamond drill data. Lahontan has not yet disclosed the full assay grades from the RC holes, but said additional results are coming soon, according to Stratford Beacon Herald.
Lahontan runs an industry-standard quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) program for all its drilling. This means the company inserts blank rock samples and certified reference materials — samples with known gold content — into the sample stream alongside real drill chips. Labs must return correct values for those reference samples, or results are flagged and re-run, Financial Post explained.
This process matters because junior mining companies must prove their assay numbers are reliable to attract investors and advance through permitting. Lahontan applies the same protocol to both its diamond core and RC drilling programs. The consistent QA/QC approach adds credibility to the 0.90 g/t oxide intercept reported at Calvada Central, Recorder noted.
The Santa Fe Mine Project is a gold project in Nevada, a U.S. state with a long history of gold mining. Lahontan is working toward permitting the project for open-pit mining. The fact that it is collecting geotechnical data — used to assess slope stability and pit design — signals that permitting work is actively underway alongside exploration, Pembroke Observer reported.
Oxide gold deposits like the one being drilled at Calvada Central are attractive because they can be processed using heap leach methods, which are lower cost than milling. With more drill results expected shortly, investors and analysts will be watching to see whether the 31-metre intercept at 0.90 g/t is part of a larger, continuous zone of mineralization, Crag and Canyon noted.
