Sega's 'Stranger Than Heaven' RPG Adds Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg for January 2027 Launch
Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio unveiled new details for Stranger Than Heaven at Summer Game Fest 2026, confirming Tupac Shakur will appear in the action-RPG with the Tupac estate’s approval and giving the character a name, Amaru. The showcase also reiterated that Snoop Dogg is part of the cast as Orpheus, while his son Cordell Broadus is included alongside a wider ensemble of performers and actors. A new trailer and developer explanations describe a music- and character-driven crime saga spanning multiple cities and eras in modern Japan, with players controlling a protagonist whose journey centers on choosing between America and Japan after a family tragedy. The game blends management-style performance setups with real-time combat, highlighted by an unusual mechanic that lets players control the protagonist’s hands independently to block and counter. The fresh footage emphasizes cinematic set pieces—hand-to-hand fights, shootouts, exploration, and faction interactions—while community chatter continues to frame it as a Yakuza- and Mafia-like hybrid. Stranger Than Heaven is set to release January 15, 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
