Athletics Invest $600 Million Into New Las Vegas Ballpark As Construction Progresses

The Oakland Athletics have spent $600 million on their Las Vegas ballpark after breaking ground just 14 months ago on the $2 billion project Macon. The team is preparing to give the Las Vegas Stadium Authority an update on construction progress and ticket sales for the 33,000-seat stadium being built on the site of the former Tropicana hotel.
The Athletics broke ground on their new Las Vegas ballpark 14 months before spending $600 million Herald Sun. The project sits on a 35-acre lot formerly occupied by the Tropicana hotel. At this spending pace, the team is on track to complete the $2 billion stadium within the planned timeline.
The Athletics plan to brief the Las Vegas Stadium Authority on ticket sales for the 33,000-capacity ballpark Fresno Bee. The update will show how many fans have already committed to season tickets ahead of the team's move from Oakland. Strong presales would signal confidence in the franchise's Las Vegas future.
Bally's Corporation plans to move forward with the northwest plaza phase of its $1.19 billion mixed-use development on the same 35-acre site San Luis Obispo. This multiphase project will add hotels, restaurants, and retail space around the new stadium. The plaza development complements the ballpark and transforms the former Tropicana property into a full entertainment destination.
A prospective buyer expressed interest in purchasing Bally's rights to the mixed-use development project Modesto Bee. However, no deal had been announced as of Thursday. The inquiry shows confidence in the Las Vegas development opportunity tied to the Athletics' arrival in the city.
