American Pacific Mining updates progress on Madison Copper-Gold drill program in Montana.
American Pacific Mining Corp. has completed 2,048 metres of drilling at its Madison Copper-Gold Project in Montana, marking a meaningful early milestone in its ambitious 15,000-metre Phase I program, according to Recorder. The project sits near Silver Star, Montana, and targets two distinct deposit types: deep porphyry copper-gold and near-surface skarn and high-grade vein zones.
Initial assay results from the current drilling are expected in the coming weeks, Daily Herald Tribune reported. A second phase of up to 7,500 additional metres is already planned, set to begin in fall 2026.
Of the 2,048 metres drilled so far, 1,620 metres used core drilling. Core drilling sends a cylindrical rock sample to the surface. This method targets the deeper porphyry system, according to Ontario Farmer. Porphyry deposits are large, low-grade bodies of copper and gold spread through rock. They are among the most economically important deposit types in the world.
The remaining 428 metres used reverse circulation, or RC, drilling. RC drilling is faster and cheaper. It targets shallower skarn zones and high-grade veins near the surface, Shoreline Beacon reported. Using both methods lets the company test the full vertical extent of the system in one program.
American Pacific Mining says roughly 5,000 metres remain in Phase I. That puts the program at about one-third complete by distance. The company has not given a specific end date for Phase I, according to Chatham Daily News. Results from holes already drilled are expected to be released in the coming weeks as lab processing finishes.
The full Phase I program spans 15,000 metres total. At 2,048 metres drilled, the company has completed roughly 14% of planned drilling. The pace suggests Phase I fieldwork could continue through much of 2025, though the company has not confirmed a timeline, Woodstock Sentinel Review noted.
The company has already outlined a Phase II program. It will add up to 7,500 metres of drilling beginning in fall 2026, according to Owen Sound Sun Times. That would bring the total planned drilling at Madison to 22,500 metres across both phases. The multi-phase approach suggests the company sees strong enough early indicators to commit capital well into the future.
American Pacific Mining is incorporated in British Columbia and headquartered in Vancouver. The company focuses on precious and base metals in the Western United States, Paris Star reported. It trades on four exchanges: the CSE under USGD, the OTCQX under USGDF, and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange under 1QC with the WKN code A422L8.
Copper and gold are both in strong demand. Copper is critical for electric vehicles and power grids. Gold remains a key safe-haven asset. A discovery at Madison could be significant given both metals' strategic importance, Cochrane Times Post noted.
