Money Concepts Capital Corp made a series of bold ETF moves in the first quarter, with its biggest play being a brand-new stake in iShares US Small Cap Value Factor ETF worth about $98.9 million, according to Ticker Report. The firm now owns roughly 64.78% of that fund's outstanding shares — making it the dominant holder by a wide margin.
The moves signal a broad shift in strategy. Money Concepts expanded into bonds, large-cap growth, and value stocks all at once — while trimming at least one existing growth position.
The headline move was a fresh stake in iShares US Small Cap Value Factor ETF (SVAL). Money Concepts bought 2,753,087 shares, valued at about $98.9 million, according to Ticker Report. That single position now makes up roughly 5.5% of the firm's total holdings. No other investor comes close — Money Concepts controls about 64.78% of SVAL's outstanding shares.
Small-cap value ETFs focus on smaller companies trading below what analysts think they are worth. It is a classic "buy low" strategy. By taking such a large position, Money Concepts is making a concentrated bet that smaller, undervalued stocks will outperform in the months ahead.
Money Concepts also doubled down on fixed income. The firm boosted its stake in JPMorgan Core Plus Bond ETF (JCPB) by 104.1%, bringing its total to 152,155 shares worth about $7.16 million, per Ticker Report. That now represents about 0.10% of the entire fund. Bond ETFs tend to act as a cushion when stock markets get choppy.
On the growth side, Money Concepts raised its position in Schwab U.S. Large-Cap Growth ETF (SCHG) by 34.2%, reaching 171,621 shares worth about $5.0 million, according to Ticker Report. The firm also bought 39,479 shares of VanEck Morningstar Wide Moat ETF (MOAT), valued at roughly $3.82 million. "Wide moat" refers to companies with strong, lasting competitive advantages — think dominant brands or hard-to-copy technology.
Meanwhile, Money Concepts trimmed its iShares Morningstar Growth ETF (ILCG) stake by 11.5%, cutting it to about 0.17% of that fund. Other investors moved the opposite direction. Kestra Private Wealth Services grew to 11,096 shares, Savant Capital LLC reached 26,769 shares, and Beacon Financial Advisory LLC climbed to 19,386 shares, per Watchlist News.
Taken together, the trades show a firm spreading its bets across multiple styles — bonds, large-cap growth, small-cap value, and quality companies with wide moats. That kind of diversification is a sign of caution. When firms buy both bonds and stocks at once, it often means they want growth but also want protection if markets fall.
The firm also added a new position in iShares MSCI Intl Value Factor ETF (IVLU), picking up 102,189 shares worth about $4.05 million, according to Watchlist News. That adds international exposure to an already wide-ranging portfolio reshuffle — one of the more active quarterly rebalances seen in the ETF space this period.
