Talamore Mining Updates Cristina Project Mineral Resource Estimate in Mexico, Validating High-Grade Strategy

Talamore Mining Corporation (TSXV: TALA) released an updated Mineral Resource Estimate on June 30, 2026 for its Cristina Project in Chihuahua, Mexico — and the numbers are a big jump. Inferred resources grew 62% to 1.24 million gold-equivalent ounces, while Indicated resources now stand at 795,000 ounces, according to Yahoo Finance Canada.
CEO Tim Warman said the update "validated our strategy of targeting higher-grade zones at Cristina" — zones that work for both open-pit and underground mining. The project sits in the Sierra Madre gold-silver belt, one of Mexico's most productive mining regions, Yahoo Finance Canada reported.
The updated MRE covers two main scenarios — open pit and underground. The Indicated resource category, which reflects higher confidence drilling data, holds 17.5 million tonnes at a grade of 1.41 grams per tonne gold-equivalent. That adds up to 795,000 ounces, a 6% gain over the 2023 baseline, according to Talamore Mining Corp.
The Inferred category — lower confidence but still significant — now totals 33 million tonnes at 1.17 g/t, for 1.24 million ounces. That is a 62% increase in ounces compared to the maiden estimate from October 2023. Most of the resource sits in the Guadalupe vein, the project's main drilling target, Talamore Mining Corp noted.
The Cristina Project spans four parallel vein systems — Guadalupe, Los Ingleses, La Estrella, and Basanopa — over a 5 km strike length. The Guadalupe vein has been the primary drilling focus and holds the bulk of the current resource. Geologically, the deposit resembles nearby high-producers like Fresnillo's San Julian mine and the Tayoltita/San Dimas district, which has produced over 3.5 million ounces of gold, according to Talamore Mining Corp.
The estimate was prepared by Independent Qualified Person John Sims of Sims Resources LLC, who brings 35 years of experience including work at Kinross Gold. Sims used an Inverse Distance Cubed method to estimate metal grades. Indicated resources required drill spacing of 40 meters or less for open pit and 35 meters for underground models, Talamore Mining Corp stated.
The project's future is not just about geology. Mexico has debated banning open-pit mining for years. Former President AMLO pushed hard for the ban, but current President Claudia Sheinbaum left it out of her initial "100 pledges," giving junior miners like Talamore a window of opportunity, according to Mexico Business News.
Talamore's sensitivity analysis shows the project stays economically viable even under an underground-only scenario, thanks to the high grades in the Guadalupe vein. Still, security risks in Chihuahua — a state affected by cartel activity — could cause some institutional investors to pause, analysts at The Northern Miner have noted. Metal prices used in the estimate were set at $1,700 per ounce for gold and $23.61 per ounce for silver, Yahoo Finance Canada reported.
The MRE release comes just weeks after a major corporate shift. Shareholders approved changing the company name from Fuerte Metals Corporation to Talamore Mining Corporation at an Annual General Meeting in Whitehorse on June 3, 2026, according to Newsfile. The new ticker, TALA, began trading on the TSXV on June 8.
Analysts currently carry a consensus "Buy" rating on TALA with a mean price target of $14.75 CAD — nearly double the stock's recent trading range of $7.70 to $8.90, according to market data. The rebranding and MRE update together mark a clear pivot: from early-stage explorer to a company positioning itself for development decisions.
