Capcom showcases new Boosted Actions and expanded weapon movesets for Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance.

Capcom’s preview points to Guardian Fulgur Anjanath as an example of a target Hammer users can quickly close in on with the weapon’s new mobility, while the expansion also features the new Elder Dragon Gundoraja and returning monsters including Kushala Daora, Khezu, Lao Shan Lung and Guardian Rathian.
The Hammer’s grounded standard combo now includes a Great Sword-style front flip that deals additional damage, complementing its new aerial spinning attack.
Capcom is expected to show Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance during a Capcom Spotlight presentation, with further gameplay details anticipated there.
Capcom is reshaping Monster Hunter Wilds with Boosted Actions, a new Master Rank system that overhauls combat for all 14 weapon types. Gaming Bolt reports that Hammer users gain greater mobility and aerial attacks, while Light Bowgun players can fire continuously while moving. The Boost Bracer charges as hunters attack, unlocking enhanced moves through special Boost Driver attacks and weapon-specific actions.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance arrives in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version also planned. IGN confirmed Capcom will reveal more gameplay details during an upcoming Capcom Spotlight presentation.
Hammer users gain unprecedented mobility with Boosted Actions. The weapon's grounded standard combo now includes a Great Sword-style front flip that deals extra damage. RPGamer notes the Hammer can also perform spinning aerial attacks, letting players quickly close in on monsters like Guardian Fulgur Anjanath.
The new moves complement traditional Hammer gameplay while opening aggressive positioning options. Hunters can chain these attacks into stronger combos, rewarding skilled play during extended monster encounters.
Light Bowgun players can now fire continuously while moving, a dramatic shift from traditional stationary shooting. VG Chartz reports the weapon gains running counters and automatic evasive maneuvers. Each shot repositions the hunter, enabling aggressive kiting strategies.
This transformation makes Light Bowgun viable for aggressive hunters who prefer constant pressure over defensive play. The mobility and counter mechanics give gunners new ways to stay active during hunts.
The Charge Blade receives new Boosted Actions that blend its hybrid nature with fresh mechanics. Noisy Pixel reports the weapon can charge up Phials instantly and launch Elemental Discharge attacks. Gaming Bolt observed the Charge Blade resembles a Switchaxe with these new moves.
All 14 weapons will receive similarly distinct expanded movesets, ensuring every hunter type gets fresh combat options in Master Rank.
The expansion features the brand-new Elder Dragon Gundoraja alongside returning monsters including Kushala Daora, Khezu, Lao Shan Lung, and Guardian Rathian. Capcom is using these monsters to showcase Boosted Actions in action.
More details arrive during the upcoming Capcom Spotlight presentation, where gameplay footage will reveal how Boosted Actions perform against Ascendance's full monster roster.
