The Beatles and Universal Music Group Announce Global Partnership for Merchandise and Fan Engagement

Universal Music Group chief executive Lucian Grainge portrays the partnership as a career-highlight and notes he has spent roughly 14 years building the relationship with Apple Corps, signaling strong executive support for the tie-up.
The 3 Savile Row fan experience will include a rooftop concert recreation at the exact location where it happened, drawing on Peter Jackson’s Get Back to let visitors relive the iconic moment.
Apple Corps has officially designated June 25 as Global Beatles Day, a fan initiative launched in 2009 to share The Beatles’ message widely.
The partnership pipeline includes The Beatles – A Four Film Cinematic Event, planned for release in 2028, expanding The Beatles’ storytelling beyond music into cinema.
Financial and other terms of the deal were not disclosed, indicating a long-term strategic collaboration without public disclosure of monetary details.
Apple Corps Ltd, the company that controls The Beatles' rights, has struck a long-term exclusive deal with Universal Music Group to manage the band's worldwide merchandise, licensing, and e-commerce, according to Variety. The partnership expands UMG's existing role with the band, which already includes stewardship of The Beatles' music catalog.
UMG chief executive Lucian Grainge called the deal a career highlight, saying he has spent roughly 14 years building the relationship with Apple Corps, Deadline reported. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The new agreement hands UMG control over physical and digital merchandise, brand licensing, and online sales for The Beatles globally, according to Yahoo News. That means everything from T-shirts and vinyl to digital goods and branded experiences falls under one roof.
Leaders from both sides said the goal is to protect The Beatles' legacy while finding new ways to reach fans across generations. The deal is designed to deliver what they called "authentic" products and experiences — not just reissues and merch drops, but entirely new fan initiatives.
The clearest example of what this partnership looks like in practice is The Beatles at 3 Savile Row, a major fan destination planned to open in 2027, Deadline reported. The venue will feature archival exhibitions, a rotating store, and a replica of the original recording studio.
A standout feature will be a recreation of the famous 1969 rooftop concert, staged at the exact same location. The experience will draw on Peter Jackson's 2021 documentary Get Back to let visitors relive the iconic moment. Apple Corps revealed the project earlier this year.
The timing of the deal is no accident. The Beatles – A Four Film Cinematic Event is planned for release in 2028, according to Variety. The project will tell each Beatle's story through a separate film, pushing the band's presence well beyond music into mainstream cinema.
The films give UMG and Apple Corps a major marketing hook for the coming years. Merchandise and licensing tied to a global film release could dramatically expand The Beatles' commercial reach to younger audiences who weren't alive during the band's peak.
As part of the partnership's fan-first framing, Apple Corps has officially designated June 25 as Global Beatles Day, Deadline reported. The date was first recognized in 2009 as a grassroots initiative to spread The Beatles' message more widely.
Grainge framed the entire deal in sweeping terms, pointing to The Beatles' enduring global appeal as the foundation for everything ahead. With the 2028 biopics, the 2027 Savile Row experience, and now a unified merch and licensing operation, UMG is betting the band remains a commercial force for decades to come.
