Netskope shares fall sharply on CFO transition despite revenue beats

Netskope reported fiscal first-quarter 2027 results that beat expectations on adjusted losses and revenue, with annual recurring revenue up 29% to $845 million and Q1 revenue up 28% to about $201.6 million, alongside improving gross margins. Despite the top-line performance, the company’s cash flows deteriorated, with free cash flow turning negative and operating cash flow swinging to an outflow, while the GAAP operating loss widened. Netskope said it is scaling its AI-native security platform through product efforts such as the Netskope One agent framework and an AI command center, and it highlighted expanded partnerships to support AI security and managed SASE offerings. The stock fell sharply after hours in one report after the company disclosed CFO Drew Del Matto’s planned retirement and an upcoming transition process. For the rest of fiscal 2027, Netskope issued guidance pointing to continued mid–20% revenue growth with still-negative adjusted earnings and modestly improving cash generation. TipRanks characterized the shares as neutral, citing strong growth but weak profitability and a leveraged balance sheet, while another report noted insider selling and mixed institutional positioning.
Netskope CEO Sanjay Beri framed the quarter and outlook around an “AI Supercycle,” saying AI is increasing “the pace and potency of attacks,” while “most organizations deploying agents have little or no policy controls.” He added that Netskope’s “AI-native fabric” in the Netskope One platform provides “the semantic intent and context needed to secure broad AI usage including autonomous agents at scale.”
Beyond margin direction, the company reported specific profitability line items: GAAP gross profit rose to $148.3 million (from $109.5 million), and GAAP loss from operations was $108.7 million (compared with a $45.4 million loss in the prior-year quarter).
The CFO transition was clarified with timing and role details: CFO Drew Del Matto—who has been with Netskope for seven years—will “remain in his role” while the company searches for a successor, and will then transition to an “advisory role.”
Insider and institutional trading signals were detailed in a separate report: Netskope insiders executed 12 open-market trades in the prior six months, all of which were sales (0 purchases, 12 sales). It also reported that 120 institutional investors added shares in the most recent quarter, while 112 decreased their positions.
