Bandai Namco Launches Dragon Ball Sparking Zero DLC with New Mode and Over 30 Characters.

Limit Breaker Journey introduces a stamina mechanic that drains as you move across the interactive map, adding risk versus reward in exploration and battles. Players earn SP from encounters and allocate points across six stats to customize a fighter, with Battle Arts providing temporary combat bonuses.
The DLC confirms several new fighters in the expanded roster, including named additions Mercenary Tao and Grandpa Gohan, with Bandai Namco stating the expansion adds around 30 additional playable characters overall.
Four new arenas join Sparking! ZERO: Kami’s Palace, Kame House, Bitter Tundra, and Stratosphere (with Earth and Planet Vegeta variants), expanding battlefield options and environmental destruction.
The free update accompanying the DLC introduces Sparking! Boost, which temporarily raises attack power by spending Skill Stock, and Chain Blast, enabling an extra follow-up attack, along with additional stage variations.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO is getting its biggest expansion yet. Bandai Namco has confirmed that the Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC launches July 30, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, bringing 33 new playable characters, a brand-new solo mode, and four fresh arenas, according to Noisy Pixel.
A free update drops alongside the paid DLC. It adds new gameplay mechanics available to all players, making July 30 a significant day for the entire Sparking! ZERO community, Push Square reported.
The DLC's headlining feature is Limit Breaker Journey, a new solo mode with an interactive map. Players pick a character and explore the map, fighting battles and completing events along the way. As you move across the map, a stamina meter drains — pushing you to weigh risk against reward before each step, Noisy Pixel explained.
Winning fights earns SP, which players spend across six different stats to grow their fighter. Battle Arts act as temporary combat bonuses that stack up as SP builds. The result is a customizable fighter that gets stronger the more you explore, according to My Nintendo News.
The expansion adds 33 playable characters from across the Dragon Ball series, confirmed Anime News Network. Bandai Namco has named two of them so far: Mercenary Tao and Grandpa Gohan, two classic characters making their Sparking! ZERO debut.
The new fighters are built to have unique pre-battle dialogue with existing characters already on the roster. That means longtime fans should spot familiar interactions depending on who they pick to fight with or against, Push Square noted.
The DLC adds four new stages to fight on: Kami's Palace, Kame House, Bitter Tundra, and Stratosphere. The Stratosphere stage comes with two variants — one set above Earth and one above Planet Vegeta — giving players six new battlefield options in total, according to Noisy Pixel.
Four Episode Battles also join the game, expanding single-player and offline content. The DLC rounds out its package with over 20 new costumes and super attacks, Anime News Network reported.
The free update landing on July 30 introduces two new mechanics. Sparking! Boost lets players spend Skill Stock to temporarily raise their attack power. Chain Blast allows an extra follow-up attack after connecting with a hit, giving fights a new layer of offensive flow, My Nintendo News explained.
New stage variations also arrive with the free patch. The update keeps Sparking! ZERO growing since its 2024 launch, with Bandai Namco steadily adding to the roster and mechanics across multiple updates, Push Square reported.
