Marvel Cosmic Invasion DLC Introduces Doctor Doom, New Game Mode, and Cosmic Swap System

The Siege of Castle Doom DLC expands Marvel Cosmic Invasion with a Latveria setting, placing Doctor Doom at the center of a Doom-focused mission.
Doctor Doom's appearance in Marvel Cosmic Invasion is being positioned to coincide with his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Avengers: Doomsday this December, signaling a cross-media marketing push.
The DLC introduces a 'Cosmic Swap' system that lets players tag between two selected heroes mid-fight to combine abilities in duo-based combat.
Players will be able to form duos from a roster of 17 superheroes, expanding the game's existing character options for this premium expansion.
The platform lineup for The Siege of Castle Doom includes Nintendo Switch 2 in addition to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, broadening device support.
Tribute Games and publisher Dotemu have revealed The Siege of Castle Doom, a premium DLC expansion for Marvel Cosmic Invasion, set to launch in Fall 2026 across PC and consoles, according to Twisted Voxel. The expansion puts Doctor Doom at the center of a brand-new game mode set in Latveria, and it adds two new playable characters to the roster.
The announcement comes as Marvel ramps up hype for Avengers: Doomsday, set to hit theaters later this year. Nintendo Life noted the DLC is timed to ride that wave of Doomsday excitement, signaling a clear cross-media marketing push between the game and the MCU film.
The DLC centers on a Doom-focused mission in Latveria, the fictional Eastern European nation Doom rules in Marvel comics. FullCleared reported that the expansion builds an entirely new game mode around Doctor Doom, giving him a dedicated story arc separate from the main campaign. Two bonus playable characters will also arrive with the DLC, though their identities have not yet been revealed.
This is the second major premium DLC for Marvel Cosmic Invasion. The first added Cyclops and The Thing to the game's playable roster earlier this year. The new expansion continues the game's pattern of pairing story content with fresh character additions.
The Siege of Castle Doom introduces a mechanic called the Cosmic Swap system. It lets players tag between two chosen heroes in the middle of a fight. This duo-based combat style allows players to chain abilities from both characters together for bigger combos and more flexible tactics.
Players can build their duo from a roster of 17 superheroes. That gives a wide range of possible pairings going into the Latveria campaign. Nintendo Wire confirmed the new mode is built around this tag system, making teamwork central to the DLC's design.
The DLC will launch on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, according to Go Nintendo. The inclusion of Nintendo Switch 2 broadens the game's reach to Nintendo's newest hardware right from the start.
Go Nintendo was among the first to highlight the Switch 2 support, which sets this DLC apart from many releases that delay next-gen platform support. No specific release date within Fall 2026 has been given yet.
The DLC's Fall 2026 window lines up with Marvel's push around Avengers: Doomsday. Nintendo Life described the DLC as Marvel Cosmic Invasion getting in on the Doomsday hype. Doctor Doom is set to make his MCU debut in the film, making now the ideal moment to spotlight the character in games as well.
This kind of cross-media timing has become common for Marvel games. Releasing Doctor Doom content alongside a major MCU film keeps the game relevant and introduces the character to players who may be discovering him for the first time through the movie.
