Bayley and Lyra Valkyria's Heated Feud Intensifies into Definitive Singles Match at SNME

Saturday Night’s Main Event will be a Peacock-exclusive special, with Bayley vs Lyra Valkyria officially set as the fourth match on the card; the show also features Gunther and Sami Zayn vs CM Punk and Cody Rhodes in the main event, plus a segment with World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and Jalen Brunson at Madison Square Garden.
Adam Pearce gave the green light for Bayley to wrestle Lyra Valkyria in a singles match for SNME, a development Bayley confirmed after demanding an in-ring confrontation with Valkyria on Raw in New York City.
Valkyria’s buildup has leaned into personal insults toward Bayley, including calling her a doormat for the locker room and the worst member of the Four Horsewomen, followed by a physical Bayley-to-Belly-like attack on RAW as the feud intensified.
In addition to Bayley vs Valkyria, SNME’s lineup features other title action and notable segments, including Paige and Brie Bella defending the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles against Fatal Influence’s Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley, plus Danhausen vs JD McDonagh; Becky Lynch has teased commentary on the fallout via social media.
Bayley and Lyra Valkyria will collide in a singles match at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event on July 18 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, according to Fightful and WWE. The match was made official after a heated face-off on the July 13 episode of Raw, where WWE official Adam Pearce gave the green light following Bayley's demand for an in-ring confrontation.
The bout is the fourth match confirmed for the Peacock-exclusive special. It marks the end of a partnership that began falling apart on June 22 in London, when the two failed to win the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles together.
Lyra Valkyria has made this feud deeply personal. On Raw, she called Bayley a "doormat for the locker room" and labeled her the worst member of the Four Horsewomen, according to Diva Dirt. The Four Horsewomen — Bayley, Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch — are one of WWE's most celebrated groups, making the insult especially pointed.
Valkyria backed up her words with action. She hit Bayley with a move similar to Bayley's own Bayley-to-Belly finisher on Raw. That moment escalated the rivalry from a tag team fallout into a bitter personal grudge match, per Wrestling Attitude.
The tension between the two started on June 22 in London. Bayley and Valkyria failed to capture the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles that night. The loss cracked their partnership, according to El-Balad. Valkyria accused Bayley of holding her back and preventing her from reaching her potential as a singles star.
Bayley fired back on Raw in New York City. She demanded the match directly and vowed to win at MSG to add to her list of career accomplishments. Becky Lynch has also teased weighing in on the fallout via social media, adding another layer of drama to the storyline, per Diva Dirt.
Bayley vs. Valkyria is one of several big bouts on the July 18 card. The main event will see CM Punk and Cody Rhodes team up against Gunther and Sami Zayn. World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns is also set to appear in a segment alongside NBA star Jalen Brunson at Madison Square Garden, according to Fightful.
The women's tag titles will also be on the line. Paige and Brie Bella will defend the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles against Fatal Influence's Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley. Danhausen will also face JD McDonagh on the card, per Diva Dirt. The Peacock-exclusive special shapes up as one of the most loaded non-premium live event shows of 2025.
