Calian Posts Record Q3 Fiscal 2026, Expanding with Galaxy Broadband Acquisition

Calian Group Ltd. (TSX:CGY) has posted record results for its third quarter of fiscal 2026, with revenue growing 20% — including 16% organic growth and 4% from acquisitions, according to GlobeNewswire. The company's adjusted EBITDA has already hit $76 million year-to-date, nearly matching its entire full-year adjusted EBITDA from the prior year, National Post reported.
Calian also announced a deal to acquire Galaxy Broadband Communications, a Canadian satellite and remote connectivity company, for $24 million upfront. An additional $27.5 million could be paid out depending on performance over the next three years, according to Financial Post.
CEO Patrick Houston pointed to the strong quarter as proof the company's strategy is working. GlobeNewswire reported Houston highlighted the record revenue growth as a sign of sustained demand across Calian's core sectors: defence, space, healthcare, and critical infrastructure.
The 16% organic growth figure is especially notable. It means Calian grew fast even without counting new acquisitions. That kind of internal growth is rare in the mission-critical services space, Market Screener noted.
Not every number moved in the right direction. Calian's third-quarter net profit came in at $5.9 million, or $1.10 per diluted share. That's down from $9.2 million in the same quarter last year, according to Financial Post.
The company said the drop in net profit was offset by higher adjusted EBITDA. Adjusted EBITDA strips out certain costs — like interest, taxes, and depreciation — to give a cleaner view of operating performance. On that measure, Calian is well ahead of last year's pace, Fort McMurray Today reported.
Calian signed a definitive purchase agreement with Crown Capital Partners Inc. to buy Galaxy Broadband Communications. Galaxy is a Canadian leader in satellite communications and remote connectivity, according to Brantford Expositor. The upfront price is $24 million.
The deal includes up to $27.5 million more, tied to Galaxy's performance over the next three years. The transaction is expected to close in Calian's fourth fiscal quarter. It still needs regulatory approval and sign-off from Crown Capital's debenture holders, The Crag and Canyon reported.
Calian focuses on sectors where reliability is non-negotiable — defence, space, and healthcare. These are areas where governments and large organizations spend steadily, even in tough economic times. That focus has helped Calian build a stable, growing revenue base, according to GlobeNewswire.
With the Galaxy acquisition, Calian adds satellite communications to its already broad portfolio. Remote connectivity is a fast-growing need — especially for defence and resource sector clients operating in hard-to-reach locations. The deal positions Calian to capture more of that demand, Market Screener noted.
