StarCharge Unveils Next-Gen Energy Tech and New ANZ Partnership at SNEC 2026

StarCharge launched three major energy products and signed a key distribution deal at SNEC 2026 in Shanghai on June 3, marking one of the most ambitious product rollouts in the company's history. The announcements position StarCharge as more than an EV charger maker — it now aims to power AI data centers, utility-scale storage, and home batteries across multiple continents, according to PR Newswire.
The company's new partnership with Australia's SolarJuice will bring StarCharge's 2026 product line to Australia and New Zealand, a market where residential solar adoption is booming and regulators are actively tearing down barriers to storage deployment, Benzinga reported.
StarCharge's biggest technical launch was its new Solid-State Transformer, or SST. Unlike a traditional iron-core transformer, the SST connects directly to medium-voltage power lines. It uses advanced semiconductors — silicon carbide and gallium nitride — to convert power more cleanly. The result: six separate power outputs from one compact unit, with a footprint up to 60% smaller than old-style hardware, according to PR Newswire.
The SST is designed for places that need massive, stable power fast — heavy-duty truck charging hubs, utility storage sites, and AI data centers running on 800VDC systems. Experts in power electronics have called SST technology the "missing link" for next-generation data centers, which strain traditional grid connections to their limits, according to Yahoo Finance.
StarCharge also unveiled a 960kW Solar-Storage-Charging System. The unit combines solar power generation, battery storage, EV charging, and power distribution in one platform. It targets commercial and industrial sites that want to go off-grid or cut energy costs without building separate systems for each function, PR Newswire reported.
The third major launch was a 6.25MWh Energy Storage Container — a 20-foot unit packed with 587Ah lithium iron phosphate battery packs. The shift to 587Ah cells, pioneered by suppliers like CATL, cuts total system components from 30,000 to 18,000 compared to older designs. StarCharge's liquid-cooled charging architecture hits 97% peak energy conversion efficiency, according to Yahoo Finance Canada.
SolarJuice, a leading renewable energy distributor in Australia, will handle localized investment, virtual power plant (VPP) deployment, and product distribution across Australia and New Zealand. A VPP links many home and business batteries together so they act like one large power plant, selling stored energy back to the grid during peak demand. SolarJuice founder Andrew Burgess has publicly called for Australia to move beyond simple rooftop solar into a "massive battery storage revolution," according to PR Newswire.
The timing is deliberate. Australia's government has raised its grid storage target from 40GWh to 56GWh in New South Wales alone. In New Zealand, only 3-4% of households have solar — compared to more than 30% in Australia. A May 2026 government review aims to remove what insiders describe as "eight layers of sign-off" currently required to install solar, opening a large new market just as StarCharge arrives, according to Benzinga.
StarCharge is not a small player making a regional bet. In late 2025, the company signed a US partnership valued at $3.2 billion to deploy 32.24GWh of battery storage, showing the capital scale it now operates at. Following SNEC 2026, the company is expected to finalize its IPO registration and begin large-scale shipments of the 6.25MWh storage containers to SolarJuice's project sites in Q3 2026, according to Yahoo Finance.
Analysts at SNEC 2026 said StarCharge is no longer just a charger company — it is becoming a "digital energy utility." The rapid push into Australia and New Zealand could squeeze out rivals like Huawei and Growatt in the region. But legal analysts in Australia warn that fast deployment of high-capacity distributed storage creates a "seismic shift" that may hurt the financial case for traditional gas and coal plants still on the grid, according to Yahoo Finance Canada.
