ZeroBounce Significantly Improves Catch-All Email Validation for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace

ZeroBounce has updated its email validation platform to better identify whether catch-all email addresses are real or fake — and it works during the standard check, with no extra steps needed. PR Newswire reports that during internal testing, the share of Microsoft 365 addresses returned as "catch-all" dropped by more than 99.98%.
The update is live now for all ZeroBounce customers. The company, which already promises 99.6% accuracy on its core validation tool, says the improvement helps marketing and sales teams act on cleaner data and move campaigns forward faster.
A catch-all email address is one that accepts every message sent to a domain — no matter what name comes before the "@" sign. That makes it impossible to tell, using standard methods, if the specific address is real or just a black hole. Senders who email these addresses risk bounces, damaged sender reputation, and lower deliverability scores.
The problem is common across large platforms. Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace both use configurations that can trigger catch-all results. Before this update, ZeroBounce could not always resolve those addresses during its normal validation pass. They would simply come back labeled "catch-all" — giving customers little useful information.
The headline number from ZeroBounce's internal testing is striking. The average share of Microsoft 365 email addresses tagged as catch-all fell by more than 99.98% after the update rolled out. That means addresses that once came back unresolved now get a clear verdict — valid or invalid — inside the same validation run.
The same improvement applies to Google Workspace domains and other major email providers, according to Newswire. ZeroBounce did not publish a separate figure for Google Workspace, but said the update covers "and more" beyond just Microsoft 365 addresses.
The practical impact is speed. When a catch-all address stays unresolved, teams have to decide whether to send anyway, wait, or run a secondary check. That friction slows campaign launches. With the new update, ZeroBounce says those decisions happen in real time, inside the standard validation workflow.
ZeroBounce says the update helps teams "move campaigns forward with greater confidence." The company positions the change as a direct response to how often Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace domains appear in modern B2B email lists, where catch-all configurations are especially common.
ZeroBounce is a well-known name in email hygiene. The company markets itself around a 99.6% accuracy guarantee — a figure it uses to stand out in a crowded field of validation tools. Its platform checks whether addresses exist, whether they are risky, and now whether catch-all addresses are actually reachable.
The update is available immediately at no extra cost to current customers, according to PR Newswire. No pricing changes or new tiers were announced alongside the release.
