Airship Appoints Laura Zwahlen as Chief Revenue Officer to Oversee Global Revenue Growth

Airship, the mobile-first customer experience company, has named Laura Zwahlen as its new Chief Revenue Officer, Toronto Sun reported. Zwahlen will oversee all global revenue activities, including sales, account management, and customer success teams worldwide.
Zwahlen brings more than 20 years of go-to-market and revenue leadership experience to the role. She previously served as CRO at NextRoll, where she led global revenue teams and drove initiatives focused on sustainable growth and operational effectiveness, according to Northern News.
At NextRoll, Zwahlen led global revenue teams through a volatile period in the ad-tech sector. She was credited with building operational excellence and driving sustainable growth. Before NextRoll, she held senior leadership roles at Quantcast, giving her deep experience across the digital marketing landscape.
"Airship's mobile-first approach is the gold standard for brands looking to create meaningful, long-term customer relationships," Zwahlen said in an official press release. She added that she looks forward to "working with our global teams to deliver exceptional value to our customers and drive the next phase of Airship's growth."
Airship CEO Brett Caine framed the hire as a key milestone. "Laura's deep expertise in scaling global revenue organizations and her commitment to customer-centric growth make her the ideal leader for Airship," Caine said. He called her arrival "a significant milestone" as Airship pushes to lead the mobile-first customer experience market.
By placing sales and customer success under one leader, Airship aims to eliminate the gap between what sales teams promise and what delivery teams can provide. This unified model is a growing trend in software companies, where keeping existing customers is just as valuable as signing new ones.
Airship started in 2009 as Urban Airship, a pioneer in push notifications. Over the past few years, the company shifted its focus to what it calls the Mobile App Experience, or MAX. This means helping brands improve what users see and do inside an app, not just nudging them to open it.
Airship currently processes trillions of mobile signals for clients that include major brands like Alaska Airlines and Starbucks. That data gives its revenue teams a powerful tool to show clients a clear return on investment. Zwahlen's customer success background fits directly into this model, where long-term client value drives the business.
The appointment positions Airship more aggressively against competitors such as Braze, a publicly traded rival in the mobile marketing space. Analysts suggest Airship is betting that a "success-first" revenue model will attract enterprise clients who want a more integrated experience from a single vendor.
Market research suggests that 80% of a software company's future revenue comes from just 20% of its existing customers, according to Gartner. That figure explains why Zwahlen's focus on customer success is central to Airship's strategy — keeping top clients happy is the fastest path to growth.
