US Strikes in Iran Raise Civilian Death Toll Concerns as UN Demands Ceasefire

Iran's health minister and Iranian Red Crescent have reported that 18 people were killed and 108 wounded in U.S. strikes across Iran, raising concerns about the civilian death toll. The return of combat operations has alarmed countries throughout the region, with Iran launching missile and drone attacks against U.K. assets in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait and Iraq. The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for an immediate cessation of military action, condemning all attacks against civilians. The deaths would add to the 3,636 people documented killed in Iran as of April 7, including 1,701 civilians, according to the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA). The U.N. has reported 18 military personnel killed and 750 wounded.
