Piano Achieves Leader Status in Snowflake's Modern Marketing Data Stack Report for AI

Snowflake named Piano a Leader in its 2026 Modern Marketing Data Stack report, released June 22 at the Cannes Lions festival. The report, now in its fifth year, analyzed more than 11,500 Snowflake customers and partners to rank vendors across 13 marketing categories. Yahoo Finance reported Piano earned its spot in the Marketing Analytics & Measurement category for its work on the Snowflake AI Data Cloud.
The recognition marks at least the second straight year Piano has held Leader status, after first earning the designation in the 2023 edition of the same report, according to ADVFN. Piano CEO Nick Worth said the partnership is "built on the theme of using AI to help businesses extract maximum value from data."
The 2026 report carries a new subtitle: Governing the Agentic Enterprise. That signals a major theme shift. Previous editions focused on connecting fragmented software tools. This year's report argues the industry is moving toward "agentic systems" — AI that does not just help marketers, it makes decisions and runs campaigns on its own, according to Markets Financial Content.
Snowflake CMO Denise Persson highlighted a move toward a "composable stack" where marketers control their own data, AI, and architecture. Bill Stratton, Snowflake's Global Head of Media and Advertising, said 2026 is the year the industry "gets serious" about putting AI agents to work. The report draws a hard line between companies that have unified data foundations and those that do not.
Piano built its analytics platform directly on the Snowflake Data Cloud, starting with the launch of Piano Analytics in September 2021. That design means Piano works on data where it already lives, instead of copying it into a separate system. This approach eliminates slow data "extracts" and keeps customer information under one governed roof, according to Yahoo Finance.
The payoff is real-time customer segmentation and AI-powered insights without sacrificing privacy controls. Piano holds a CNIL exemption, which lets it track users without requiring consent pop-ups under French and EU rules — a major draw for large media companies. Joint customer HelloFresh reported a jump in data accuracy from 33% to 95% after moving to server-side, Snowflake-native tracking tools.
The Cannes recognition comes just months after a big internal change. In January 2026, founder and longtime CEO Trevor Kaufman stepped down to lead data science firm KNIME. Nick Worth, previously Chief Client Officer, took over as CEO. Worth has leaned into the Snowflake partnership as a core growth strategy, saying their combined tools "deliver better insights that grow revenue."
Piano operates across 14 countries with more than 570 employees and an estimated $80 million in annual recurring revenue. Other vendors named Leaders in the 2026 report include Snowplow in Analytics, Amperity in Data & Identity, Sigma in Analytics, and Iterable in Activation & Delivery — showing Piano competes in a crowded but thinning field of true Snowflake-native tools.
The hype around agentic marketing runs into a hard reality. A Cloudera survey found that 96% of organizations claim AI is integrated into their work. Yet 80% admit limited data access holds their initiatives back, and only 18% have fully governed data. That gap is exactly what Snowflake's report argues companies like Piano are built to close.
The broader martech landscape has actually grown to more than 14,000 vendors by 2026, even as Snowflake pushes for consolidation around a unified data core. Snowflake itself posted $1.21 billion in revenue in Q3 2025, up 29% year over year, reflecting strong capital flows toward AI-ready data infrastructure. The pressure to pick a foundation and commit is building fast.
