Mouse: P.I. for Hire Receives Major Update, Adding Level Revisit and VRR Support

The 1.2.0 patch introduced a new Balanced graphics mode that targets 40 FPS, expanding the visual options beyond prior settings and complementing the uncapped VRR improvements.
In addition to graphical tweaks, the update adds horizontal axis inversion and improvements to the settings menu navigation and controller rebinding for easier customization.
The 1.2.1 PS5 patch highlights a weapon wheel overhaul aimed at more responsive combat, alongside trophy corrections and broader progression-blocker fixes.
A notable bug fix list includes an invisible collider blocking progression during the flood dive sequence in The Depths, which could prevent players from advancing.
Additional fixes address durability of combat mechanics such as armor not reducing explosive damage correctly, improving consistency in explosive encounters.
Mouse: P.I. for Hire just received its biggest update yet, with version 1.2.1 rolling out across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch 2 in July 2026. The patch brings two headline features: Level Revisit, which lets players replay finished levels to grab missed collectibles, and uncapped Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support for smoother visuals. Twisted Voxel called it the game's most significant update to date.
Developer FumiGames and publisher PlaySide Publishing also slipped in a wave of bug fixes, menu upgrades, and combat tweaks. The updates reflect a concerted push to polish the 1930s noir shooter after its initial release.
The Level Revisit feature is the most player-requested addition since launch. After finishing a level, players can return to it directly from the world map. That means no more starting a full playthrough just to grab a missed collectible or finish a side quest. Twisted Voxel confirmed the feature works across all completed stages.
The update also unlocks post-credits hub access, giving players a way to replay the overworld after finishing the story. Playday One noted that this addition, alongside Level Revisit, rounds out the game's replayability in a meaningful way.
Version 1.2.0 added a new Balanced graphics mode that targets 40 FPS. This sits between the existing performance and quality settings. It gives players a middle option that keeps visuals sharp without fully sacrificing frame rate. Nintendo Everything confirmed the mode launched alongside full uncapped VRR support.
VRR, short for Variable Refresh Rate, syncs a screen's refresh rate to the game's output in real time. The result is less screen tearing and a smoother overall feel. My Nintendo News highlighted the 40 FPS Balanced Mode as a key addition for Switch 2 players looking for a steadier experience.
The 1.2.1 patch reworked the weapon wheel to make combat feel more responsive. Players can now also invert the horizontal axis and rebind controller inputs more easily. Pure Xbox noted the Xbox version, labeled v1.2.1.1, includes the full set of these quality-of-life changes alongside stability fixes.
Bug fixes go deep. One patch addressed an invisible wall in The Depths flood dive sequence that completely blocked player progress. Another fixed armor not reducing explosive damage correctly. Trophy glitches and sequence breaks were also corrected. Twisted Voxel reported that progression blockers were a top priority for the patch team.
Beyond the digital patches, FumiGames also confirmed physical editions of Mouse: P.I. for Hire are on the way. Playday One broke the news alongside the 1.2.0 patch announcement. No firm release date for the physical copies was given, but the news signals growing confidence in the title's commercial momentum.
