Ucloudlink Reports Q3 Revenue Miss, Lowers 2026 Guidance Amid Operating Pressures

In Q2 2026, international data connectivity revenue declined to $8.2 million, while local connectivity, SIM, IoT and PetPhone operations expanded, signaling a shift in segment performance.
Q2 gross margin was 50.2%, with an operating loss of about $2.9 million, indicating margin pressure even as some segments grew.
UCLOUDLINK disclosed it sold its Beijing Huaxianglianxin stake in August for about RMB 11.4 million, generating roughly RMB 2.9 million in gain as it continues developing its connectivity, IoT and consumer-device businesses.
Platform usage metrics showed momentum in Q2, with average daily active users rising 13.3% to 376,376 and data consumption reaching 46,641 TB, underscoring growth in IoT/SIM offerings.
For Q3, the revenue guidance of 19–22 million implies a 13.7% shortfall at the high end and a 25.5% miss at the low end versus consensus, highlighting continued top-line pressure.
uCloudlink Group (NASDAQ: UCL) missed badly on Q3 revenue guidance, projecting sales of $19 million to $22 million — well short of the $25.5 million analyst consensus, according to ScanX Trade. That means even the high end of guidance falls 13.7% below expectations, and the low end misses by 25.5%.
The weak outlook follows a disappointing Q2, where revenue fell 5.9% year over year to $18.2 million and the company posted a net loss of $3 million, according to TipRanks. The company also cut its full-year 2026 sales guidance, now projecting $75 million to $85 million — down from an earlier target of $85 million to $100 million.
uCloudlink reported Q2 adjusted earnings per share of -$0.06, missing the -$0.05 consensus by 20%, according to ScanX Trade. Revenue came in at $18.2 million, an 8.8% miss versus estimates and a 5.9% drop from a year ago. Gross profit slipped to $9.2 million, giving a gross margin of 50.2%. The operating loss widened to about $2.9 million.
The net loss hit $3 million in Q2, compared to a profit of $0.7 million in the same quarter last year, according to TipRanks. Adjusted EBITDA — earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization — was negative $1.8 million. The company ended the quarter with $25.2 million in cash and cash equivalents.
The company's legacy business is struggling. International data connectivity revenue dropped to $8.2 million in Q2, according to TipRanks. That drag is pulling down overall results even as newer segments pick up speed.
Meanwhile, local connectivity, SIM card services, IoT devices, and PetPhone products all expanded during the quarter. Average daily active users rose 13.3% to 376,376. Total data consumption reached 46,641 terabytes. These growth numbers show the platform is getting more use — but not yet generating enough revenue to offset the decline in the core international business.
uCloudlink sold its stake in Beijing Huaxianglianxin in August for roughly RMB 11.4 million, generating a gain of about RMB 2.9 million, according to TipRanks. The move is part of a broader effort to shift focus toward connectivity, IoT, and consumer devices. Asset sales like this helped lift the company's cash balance to $25.2 million by quarter's end.
uCloudlink now expects full-year 2026 sales of $75 million to $85 million, down from a prior forecast of $85 million, according to ScanX Trade. That is a significant reduction and signals that management sees no quick recovery. The Q3 guidance midpoint of $20.5 million is also well below Q2's already-weak $18.2 million run rate on an annualized basis.
Shares ticked slightly higher in early trading after the results, according to Yahoo Finance. But the combination of a revenue miss, wider losses, and a slashed annual outlook paints a difficult picture for the rest of the year. Investors will be watching whether the IoT and SIM businesses can grow fast enough to replace the fading international connectivity revenue.
