Autheo Launches Decentralized Internet OS Mainnet, Uniting Web, Blockchain, and AI Applications

Autheo has launched the Mainnet of its "Internet Operating System" — a decentralized layer designed to let websites, blockchains, and AI agents talk to each other natively, without bridges or middlemen. The launch comes after five years of testing that saw the network process 8.8 billion transactions, 1.8 million wallets, and nearly 1 million smart contracts, according to GlobeNewswire.
The project's native token, $THEO, launched its presale on June 30, 2026, targeting a raise of $44.8 million at 0.08 USDT per token. A listing on the Hydrex.fi decentralized exchange is expected in early July, per GlobeNewswire.
Autheo was founded in July 2021 in Sheridan, Wyoming, by Scott Bayless and Todd Mortenson. Bayless is a former Associate Chief Accountant at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. That background gives Autheo unusual regulatory credibility for a crypto project, according to GlobeNewswire.
The team ran a public testnet for two full years. By May 11, 2026, a "soft" Mainnet launch went live with 549,339 active wallets on day zero. The official public launch followed on June 29, 2026. Bayless described the goal simply: "Autheo is the layer where the web, the chain, and the agent can finally work together," per GlobeNewswire.
The system rests on four main parts. First is TheoID, a digital identity standard that works for people, services, and AI agents alike. Second is PQCNet, a security framework built to resist quantum computers. It follows standards set by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in August 2024, according to GlobeNewswire.
The third and fourth parts are a "Layer 0" base network and an "Layer 1" execution environment. Together they let the system connect to other blockchains natively and run smart contracts in a way compatible with Ethereum. Chief Engineering Officer Kenneth Harper leads a technical team with contributors from MIT, Harvard, Stanford, and Caltech, per markets.financialcontent.com.
Autheo's June 21 whitepaper introduced what it calls the "Agentic Commerce Stack." The idea: AI agents buy compute, storage, and identity checks from each other using $THEO — with no human in the loop. This would create a new kind of demand for crypto that runs entirely between machines, not people, according to advfn.com.
The network runs on 399 licensed validator nodes secured by a mechanism called "Proof of Autheo." Critics on platforms like RootData argue that a licensed validator model puts institutional credibility ahead of true decentralization — a trade-off the project has not fully addressed publicly.
Not everyone is convinced. Analysts at CoinGabbar issued a "careful due diligence" warning ahead of the June 30 presale, saying the "user problem and product scope remain opaque" in marketing materials. The $THEO token's utility also needs clearer public documentation, they said.
The planned listing exchange, Hydrex.fi, draws mixed reviews. It holds an AAA rating for its smart contract mechanics but a D grade for team credibility, partly because it only launched in late 2025, per research from isthiscoinascam and RootData. For a project pitching quantum-proof security as its core selling point, the choice of listing partner is a question developers and investors will be watching closely.
