Fable Reboot Reveals February 2027 Launch Date, Hayley Atwell Stars as Antagonist Isabel

Playground Games has confirmed that its Fable reboot, delayed from 2026, will launch on February 23, 2027 for Windows PC via Steam, Xbox Series S/X, and PS5, with day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass. At the Xbox Games Showcase, the studio unveiled new story trailer footage highlighting Isabel, the game’s main antagonist and “Hero of Wraithmarsh,” voiced and portrayed by Hayley Atwell, along with teasing the apparent return of the original series’ Jack of Blades. The cast is expanding further with Susan Wokoma as Arden the Cobbler, Richard Ayoade already announced, and additional performers including Lily Nichol, Ukweli Roach, Natasia Demetriou, Nathan Foad, Kwane Augustine, Nina Wadia, and Robert Whitelock in roles tied to Albion and its various factions. The trailer also reinforces the game’s choice-and-consequence focus, its playful tone, and its promise of action across the fairy-tale world of Albion. Post-launch, Playground plans a story-driven expansion titled Order of the Hero that draws players into a dark cult and offers a new region to explore as they rise to become the cult’s “celebrity overseer.”
Playground and Microsoft describe Isabel (Hayley Atwell) as “a powerful Hero with a tragic past,” a former pupil of Guildmaster Humphry the Golden whose “obsession with righting Albion’s wrongs has driven her to darkness in her search for answers.”
The new trailer also introduces Natasia Demetriou’s Jenny, described by narrative director Craig Owens as “Brutal, crude, and shameless,” who is “one of the two feuding heirs to the city of Bloodstone,” embodying Bloodstone as “proud, defiant, and dangerous.”
Edition pricing and preorder benefits were detailed: the Standard Edition costs $109.95 AUD, while the Premium Edition is $149.95 AUD and includes five-day early access.
GameSpot-area coverage said preorders open immediately with a “Pre-Order Content pack” featuring a Chicken Suit cosmetic, and that the Premium Edition includes additional bonuses such as “2 cosmetic sets” plus “9 in-game gifts, a digital art book, [and] soundtrack,” along with the post-launch expansion Order of the Hero.
Eidos Montreal is co-developing the RPG alongside Playground Games, the studio behind Forza Horizon.
